12 Tips to Get Your Sh*t Together and Keep It That Way – Journey with Chloe

I’ve recently noticed that the people who complain about something have one thing in common. Whether it’s about work, relationships or the weather, whoever it is complaining always acts the victim. I know, I know, it’s hard not to when it appears as though there’s so much wrong with the world.

Here’s the thing though. When we act the victim, we feel helpless, powerless, like we have no control over our own life. That’s exactly why your life is a never-ending cycle of doom and gloom!

It’s time to ask yourself, seriously, ask yourself, what would happen if you stopped acting like the victim? What if you stopped letting life happen to you and started making life happen for you?

It’s about time you stopped being a slave to life and use these 12 tips to get your sh*t together!

12 tips to get your sh*t together and keep it that way

1. Take responsibility

Stop making excuses. Stop blaming others. The only person you have to blame for where you are in life right now is yourself. It’s the brutally honest truth and you need to accept it to make your life any better.

Next, deal with the things that are bothering you. You’re going to have to take some actions that you won’t like, and it might kick up a fuss at first, but remember, after a storm comes the calm.

2. Let it go

I used to get really frustrated that I couldn’t control the outcome of a situation. Then I realised that we can’t control most things in life. We only waste our energy by trying. So, if you have to force it, leave it. That especially goes for relationships and friendships. Instead, focus your energy on the things which serve you.

3. Love yourself

It’s important to recognise that a lack of self-love can lead to self-sabotaging behaviour. Loving yourself is one of the best ways to get your sh*t together. Stop looking to others for validation. Improve your inner voice. Let go of the negative thoughts about yourself. Stop comparing yourself to others. Learn to love your imperfections. Reward yourself. Do things that make you feel good. Always assume the best possible outcome.

4. Be selfish

Stop doing things that don’t serve you just to please other people. Learn to say NO. Start saying yes to opportunities which will help you get to where you want to be in life.

5. Be grateful

After waking up and before going to sleep, think of 5 things you’re grateful for. I guarantee that you’ll come up with more than 5. Don’t focus your energy on what you don’t have. Instead, think of all the things which you do have.

The more grateful you are for the things you do have, the more you’ll attract things into your life to be grateful for.

6. Pronoia over paranoia

Stop thinking that everything and everyone is out to get you. It’s simply not true. Instead, believe that the universe is working in your favour. Believe that you already have what you want in life. This helps to attract the right people and opportunities into your life.

7. Be vulnerable

Most people see vulnerability as a weakness. Especially when it comes to guys being vulnerable. But this is a big. fat. LIE. Being vulnerable is actually one of the biggest strengths we can have. It allows us to empathise with other human beings as well as have more open, non-judgemental and deeper relationships.

8. Change your diet

You are what you eat. If you fill your body with junk, you will feel like junk. It’s as simple as that. Shift your diet from unhealthy processed foods to healthy natural ones as much as possible. Your body will stop craving that addictive refined sugar. Your taste buds will start to change. Best of all, you will actually start to enjoy eating healthy foods!

If you’re open to the idea, try going vegan. From my own personal experience, I feel healthier, happier and more energetic. I look more radiant, and I think clearer and more positively.

9. Meditate

We’re always doing, doing, doing. Yet we’re human BEINGS. Another brilliant way to get your sh*t together is taking at least 10 minutes to be still with yourself. Breathe from the base of your spine. Don’t tense any of your muscles. Allow your thoughts to pass like clouds. Completely let go.

Of course, like anything, meditation takes time and practice. But the benefits are completely worth it. I’ve noticed my performance heightens on any day that I meditate. Especially before doing exercise.

10. Exercise

Find a type of exercise that you enjoy doing. Anything active which you’re passionate about. Yoga, HIIT, running, swimming, surfing, hiking, weight lifting. Do some form of exercise everyday and make it become a positive habit. Exercise releases endorphins in the brain and sets you up with motivation for the day!

Remember to allow yourself to rest and don’t feel guilty about skipping legday. You’re not perfect so don’t try to be! It’s all about finding the perfect balance for yourself.

11. Follow your passions

Figure out what you like to do. Something which makes you feel good. Then practice it. Find a way to incorporate it into your work life so you can make a living doing what you love.

12. Be mindful

Bring your awareness into the present moment 100%. Accept your reality exactly as it is. Acknowledge your feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations. Be aware of what you see, smell, taste, touch and hear. Let your mind be conscious of what you’re doing as well as what’s happening around you.
